Tom yum soup

Tom yum originated from Thailand. Characterized as a broth by its hot and sour flavors with fragrant spices and herbs and cooked shrimps. Tom yum tastes at it best when fresh ingredients used.


Ingredients:-

Stock (chicken/vegetable) 4 cups

Lemon grass: -3 stalks

Kaffir lime leaves: -4 pieces

Thai chilies: - 2nos

Chilli paste: - 3tbsp

Fish sauce: - 8 tablespoons

Limes: - 3nos

Cilantro leaves: - 6 springs

Onions: -1/4 cup

Mushrooms: - 1 cup

Salt to taste

White pepper to taste.

HOW TO MAKE IT: -

  1. In a large sauce pot bring the stock to a boil

  2. Add the lemon grass, kaffir, Thai chilies, onions, mushrooms and let the flavors infuse in the stock.

  3. Add the seasonings like fish sauce, chili paste let it simmer

  4. Add a meat of your choice which is optional, I have added shrimps.

  5. Remove the lemon grass and kaffir leaves.

  6. Season with salt and pepper and serve hot.
